Somalia launches COVID-19 data monitoring dashboard

MOGADISHU – Somali Ministry of Health said Saturday it has launched its new webpage with integrated new COVID-19 data-monitoring dashboard.

Fawziya Abikar, the health minister, said the integrated dashboard which was launched in partnership with Nomad Innovation Lab will allow the public to get access to the latest updates on the pandemic situation in the country.

Abikar lauded the partnership with Nomad Innovation Lab, a Somali-led organization, to bring the latest updates on the respiratory disease.

“This timely partnership will provide the public with a dashboard that displays real-time information and data on COVID-19 in Somalia,” she said in a statement issued in Mogadishu.

She said the dashboard has the capability to track real-time data about confirmed cases and deaths by the government and federal member states.
It features the breakdown of the confirmed cases by gender and age group while monitoring patient recoveries.

The new data monitoring dashboard augments the ministry of health to report accurate, knowledge-based data that can inform life-saving decisions and community intervention efforts at a time of unprecedented need.

The minister said Nomad Innovation Lab has been a partner in rebuilding the website and providing the ministry with data-monitoring dashboard which will help the government facilitate highly coordinated and effective response to the pandemic.
