Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a male in St Kilda on 4 December.
Emergency services were called to St Kilda beach just after 7.30pm following reports of people fighting.
One male was located with stab wounds on the beach in the vicinity of Pier Road.
The yet to be formally identified male was transported to hospital but has since died.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined at this stage.
