Abu Dhabi, Djibouti mull commercial, investment cooperation

DUBAI — Abdullah Ghurair Al-Qubaisi, Deputy Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, met on Monday Othman Moussa Derar Shoroua, Djibouti Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to explore ways of developing commercial and investment cooperation between the Gulf Arab emirate and the East African state, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

Al Qubaisi said it was important to increase the contributions of private sector companies and institutions in the emirate to support the economic and social development process in Djibouti by implementing development projects particularly in the field of infrastructure and energy.

The Djibouti ambassador to the UAE invited the Chairman and Board Members of the Abu Dhabi Chamber to participate in the Djibouti economic forum that will be held in the country in December. It coincides with a large international commercial exhibition with the participation of a large number of companies, commercial and industrial in COMESA.

COMESA, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, is a free trade region with twenty member states reaching from parts of North Africa to South-East Africa.

WAM quoted the ambassador saying that the forum and the exhibition are considered a great opportunity for Emirati companies to promote their presence and investments in the Djibouti market in many vital areas of importance for its economy.’
